Ravenstine wurde von Martin in Zeiten der weltweiten Pandemie gegründet. Martin Sosna gründete die Band mit seinem langjährigen Freund John A.B.C. Smith von God's Army. Es war in Zeiten der Pandemie und sie hingen in Johns Wohnung herum. Martin nahm Johns Gitarre und spielte ein einfaches Riff. Das war die Geburtsstunde ihres Titeltracks "Ravenstine". Beide fragten ihren Freund Hanno Kerstan (Mystic Prophecy), ob er frei sei, mit ihnen zu jammen. Bei der ersten Probe stellte das Trio den nächsten Track fertig und nahm beide neuen Songs im Eric Harings Tonstudio in Düsseldorf auf. Ravenstine schickte ein paar Kopien dieses 2-Track-Demos an verschiedene Plattenfirmen und das gab ihnen einen Plattenvertrag mit ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records! Ravenstine kann weder als komplette Band noch als Nebenprojekt bezeichnet werden. Sie sind eine Gruppe von Freunden, deren Wohnsitze weit verstreut liegen.
Das Album:
RAVENSTINE……. DER Track der die Marschrichtung vorgibt. Und die geht in Richtung knackigen Hardrock mit melodiösen Metal Einflüssen. Es stampft gut los… die Vocals passen , die kurzen Solis, und Riffs kommen auf den Punkt, und die Bass/Drums Sektion treibt das Ganze von hinten heraus mit dem nötigen Druck an. 
LADY LUCK Das Intro erinnert mich in Teilen an das Riff von Sweet`s Hellraiser. Auch hier baut sich der Song auf, und die backing Vocals laden zum mitshouten ein. Für Livepräsentationen hat man Luft gelassen für das eine oder andere ausgiebige Solo. 
FREEDOM DAY ist melodiöser etwas dezenter, aber gut temperiert. Einige gezielte Tempowechsel die dem Song Atmosphäre zusätzlich geben unterstützen den prägenden Gesang . Zum Ende des Songs gibt’s nochmal ein aufbauendes Finale.
STILL ALIVE ein durchweg melodischer Midtempo Song, etwas verhalten, aber nicht zu verhalten die Freunde des druckvollen Melodic, Rocks werden es lieben, am Ende des Songs noch eine Bläser Einlage.. die etwas ungewohnt jazzig daherkommt. 
SHUT UP AND CLAP… ist ein Gitarrensolo auf die Ode der Freude.
PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT nimmt wieder Fahrt auf. Ein gut losstampfender Riff durchzogener Track der auch wieder von den passenden Solos im Mittelteil verstärkt wird. 
BLUE LIGHT Ein Song der durchaus seine Live Qualitäten hat, ansonsten etwas dahin plätschert, sehr luftig… aber auch nicht extrem spannend. 
RAISE YOUR HEAD sehr verhaltener Beginn, was sich zu einer melodischen Powerballade entwickelt.
I DONT KNOW. Mutig, mutig … ein Ozzy Osbourne Cover, das durchaus gelungen ist. 
10 RUN LIKE HELL und noch ein Cover Song, diesmal von Pink Floyd. Wenn man sich an solche Hochkaräter ran wagt, dann muss es gelingen, oder es geht schnell in die Hose. Aber auch hier haben sie die Klippe gut gemeistert. Eine absolut hörenswerte Version. 

Fazit: Der Rock n Roll wird nicht neu erfunden, weil man das nicht kann. Dieses Album macht Spass und passt gut zum kommenden Sommer. Abwechslungsreich, mit einigen Höhen und auch Tiefen.. die aber dem Gesamtwerk keinen Abbruch tun. Ein gelungenes Debütalbum, das noch Luft nach oben lässt.

Ravenstine was formed by Martin during the global pandemic. Martin Sosna formed the band with his longtime friend John A.B.C. Smith of God's Army. It was during the pandemic and they were hanging out at John's apartment. Martin took John's guitar and played a simple riff. That was the birth of their title track "Ravenstine". Both asked their friend Hanno Kerstan (Mystic Prophecy) if he was free to jam with them. At the first rehearsal, the trio completed the next track and recorded both new songs at Eric Haring's recording studio in Düsseldorf. Ravenstine sent a few copies of this 2 track demo to different record labels and that got them a record deal with ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records! Ravenstine can neither be called a full band nor a side project. They are a group of friends whose homes are widely scattered. The Album: RAVENSTINE……. THE track that sets the direction. And it goes in the direction of crisp hard rock with melodic metal influences. It stomps off well... the vocals fit, the short solos and riffs hit the spot, and the bass/drums section drives it all from the back with the power it needs. LADY LUCK The intro partly reminds me of the riff of Sweet's Hellraiser. Here, too, the song builds up and the backing vocals invite you to shout along. For live presentations, there was room for one or the other extensive solo. FREEDOM DAY is more melodic, a bit more subtle, but well tempered. Some targeted tempo changes add to the atmosphere of the song give support the formative song . At the end of the song there is another constructive finale. STILL ALIVE a consistently melodic mid-tempo song, a bit restrained, but not too restrained, friends of the powerful melodic, rock will love it, at the end of the song there is also a brass insert... which comes along a bit unusually jazzy. SHUT UP AND CLAP... is a guitar solo on Ode to Joy. PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT is picking up speed again. A well stomping riff streaked track which is again reinforced by the appropriate solos in the middle part. BLUE LIGHT A song that definitely has its live qualities, otherwise something ripples along, very airy... but not extremely exciting either. RAISE YOUR HEAD very restrained beginning, which develops into a melodic power ballad. I DO NOT KNOW. Bold, bold... an Ozzy Osbourne cover that's well done. 10 RUN LIKE HELL and another cover song, this time by Pink Floyd. If you dare to approach such top-class artists, then you have to succeed or it will quickly go haywire. But again, they have mastered the cliff well. A version that is absolutely worth listening to. 

Conclusion: Rock n Roll will not be reinvented because you can't. This album is fun and goes well with the coming summer. Varied, with some ups and downs... but they don't detract from the overall work. A successful debut album that still leaves room for improvement.
